Kneading table & The Community Oven

“Dat komt voor de bakker” – “It will be all right”

Unwind and relax in our open bakery and make your own, while experiencing the old baking tradition of the communal oven. Long time ago, people relied for different reasons on communal ovens to bake their bread. In some countries, this old way of baking sometimes is still practiced.

The Dutch saying “Komt voor de bakker” (meaning it will be all right) reminds us according to the Van Dale dictionary that in the past people would knead the dough at home and bring it to the communal oven to bake it. The main – kneading –  work was already done when the dough was brought to the oven (baker), so there was nothing more to worry about, the job was in a way now completed.
